Why Hike The Windows and Double Arch

Terrific views and a large collection of interesting arches makes the Windows section a must see destination in Arches National Park. North Window, South Window, Turret Arch and Double Arch are the stars of the show. Nearby weird and wonderful rock formations, such as Elephant Butte, the Parade of Elephants and the Garden of Eden, compete for your attention.

I highly recommend hiking the primitive trail that circles the North and South Windows and then walking over to visit Double Arch. Combining the two areas creates a highly scenic 2-miles round-trip hike that is accompanied by distant vistas of the La Sal Mountains and the deep canyons of the Colorado River and Salt Wash.

This is a very popular area and parking is limited. Visit early in the morning or in the late afternoon for the best chance of getting a parking space. You can park either by the Windows or Double Arch. Walk between the two areas on the short trail (0.15-miles) that crosses the loop road instead of trying to move your car.
